THE MAXI-BOOT FREGOLA
OK so we’re a little confused. Until a couple of winters ago we always watched maxi-boots, high, tall, over the knee or whatever you want to call them from a safe distance, because we thought anything under a certain height wasn’t enough. Tall enough, slim enough, graceful enough. Then we started seeing them everywhere and on everyone: proving all the math of length divided by calf minus thigh totally wrong. Which kinda threw us, because we know risk is always around the corner, but then again so is the fregola. In the end we surrendered. But with a little good sense. You can never be too sure. First: avoid stripclub style getups. Short is OK but only if it’s somewhere between bon ton and understated. And if that all seems a little tedious, spice things up with a miniskirt teamed with an oversized sweater, shorts with an extra-long-sleeved shirt and so on and so forth, always following the rule of add-subtract, subtract-add in color blocks. Second: we do like flat maxi-boots but ultimately a little heel does help. Just so no one can say “we told you so”. We’re going for 1-2 inches. So you see it doesn’t take too much effort to make your legs look longer. Now all that’s left to do is choose. Will it be Valentino’s stars or Prada’s buckled leather? Or maybe Yves Saint Laurent suede: a 60’s classic that will never die out.
