THE NEW YEAR’S FREGOLA
It’s around this time of year that friends and colleagues, somewhere between coffee and (light) lunch, start springing the season’s biggest question on you: what are you doing for New Year’s Eve? Let the holiday stress begin! We’ve still no idea where we’ll be that night (and we definitely won’t ask you), but we might just let ourselves be inspired by the upcoming party season to add yet another fregola to the already extensive list. Considering the occasion, we’re getting ready to be dazzled by shimmering metallic skirts, perfect for the not-so-imminent holiday party circuit and also for right now – to hell with the calendar. So as long as the Indian summer (and the mercy of our beautician) lasts, we’ll be teaming them with bare legs and ankle boots, or sneakers and socks. And when the air gets just a little too chilly, we’ll be welcoming in cosy tights. Length and style are pretty much the same as we’ve seen on the catwalk for the last couple of seasons: amply below the knee and preferably pleated, so they flutter like autumn leaves twirling to the ground. And when our friends see us and say we look like we’re ready for New Year, at least we won’t have to give too many explanations.
